Plants to hide in are great. If the tank is "tall" or high, put in a shelf then put in a fish house near the surface. Beta like to hide, but they need oxygen so the closer to the surface the better. Keep reflective surfaces away as beta feel threatened by other beta and may mistake their own image as an intruder.
