My computer is currently pretty ?

My computer seems like it is in the **** bag currently and I need to to write my research paperrrrrr. AVG says I have no threats and it cannot update because it cant connect to its server. Likewise, I go to download another virus/spyware protection and I can't connect to any of those websites yet I can get on almost all others. I get pop ups from windows security saying do you want to allow some process, it's a spyware process but it doesn't allow me to choose unblock or block. help? with everything?
